White County – Tax bills for property owners have been mailed as of April 6th, 2020.  The first (Spring) installment of 2020 taxes are due May 11th, 2020  Any payment made after July 10th will be considered late and be subject to a late fee penalty.  The second (Fall) installment will be due on November 10th, 2020. 

Since the White County Building is temporarily closed to the public due to the Covid-19 outbreak we are asking you to make your Property Tax Payments as follows:

      YOU SEARCH BY: Name, Address, Parcel #, or Duplicate #

      By mail – If you would like a receipt, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope          and we will mail it to you.
      By dropping it off in the Treasurer’s Drop Box. Attached to the building just to the        right of the West (Illinois Street) doors. 
  You can pay at several local banks with your tax coupons.

  Over the Phone – Call the Treasurer’s office 574.583.5771 and we will take a debit or credit card payment.  There is NO convenience fee charged.

  Questions concerning property tax bill payments should be addressed to the Treasurer’s office at 574-583-5771.  Remember we are running on a very limited staff with limited hours.  So, if you have a question or problem slip us a note with your payment and be sure to include your phone number and we will call you when we are in the office.   • The White County Treasurer's duties include:
  • Custodian of all county monies
  • Tax Collector (real estate, personal property, mobile home, drainage maintenance, reconstruction, inheritance tax, personal property tax judgments, sewer & weed liens, & innkeepers tax)
  • Secretary of the White County Board of Finance
  • Secretary/Treasurer of the White County Innkeepers Tax Board
  • Issuing Mobile Home moving & title permits
  • Issuing Alcoholic Beverage Permits
  • Managing mortgage escrow accounts
  • Conducting tax sales (usually one sale per year, in the fall; list may be purchased in late summer by contacting the White County Auditor)

  • G Government Y Per-Era
  • H Homestead Z Real-Rehab
  • M Mortgage

  • You must file for these deductions with the AuditorHomestead deduction is also available and must be filed for with the Auditor.
